This is the remaining legacy of Fallschirmjäger and Knight's Cross bearer Werner Ewald.
Werner reached the service rank of major and served throughout the war from 1939 until his capture in Brest. He was held prisoner by the Allies until 1946 and served in the Bundeswehr for some time after the war. Werner died in Bonn at the age of 78.
All pieces in this estate were obtained directly from his wife and have never been in trade or offered for sale.
In this lot you will find his original Fallschirmjäger batch. This is the version that was sewn onto the uniform. In addition, this lot includes 44 original photographs where he is shown in various places including Crete. All photos are original from the war period except the large portrait photo showing him with the knight's cross, this is a post-war shot.
