Plaquette "Dag van den Nederlandschen Arbeidsdienst"

Metal plaque with inscription ( Dutch Arbeitsdients / Landwacht).
19 x 15 cm in size.
With 2 holes for fastening.

On 3 May 1942, the "Day of the Dutch Labour Service" took place. On the Houtrust grounds in The Hague, 1,300 Labour men and 100 girls lined up for a large demonstration.
 
"The love of his country is innate to every one", is a quote from the play "Gysbreght van Aemstel" by Joost van den Vondel. Also pictured here is a metal and plaster plate with the quote and the Dutch lion on it. This plate probably hung on the wall of many a Dutch nationalist.
