On the night of 15-16 June 1944, M 550 ( EX m-50) was destroyed west of Boulogne-sur-Mer by an RAF air raid. 297 Lancasters, Halifaxes and Mosquitos flew a heavy attack on the port of Boulogne. The two R-boat escort ships M 507 and Von der Lippe, six minesweepers, three minesweepers, two outpost boats, two artillery ferry boats, three tugs and five harbour protection boats were also sunk, and three minesweepers were badly damaged.
